June Journal
Hello to Everyone,
So, I am guessing you may have noticed that my April, May have been extremely busy. I am now on a two week hiatus and am thrilled to sit outside and write this journal page. I was going to go to the grocery store, but this is the first time in a while I could just sit down and enjoy the fresh Los Angeles air. Well, if that’s what one can call it. It’s not bad because it’s been windy so it’s blown the smog out and the dust and allergies around. It’s clear, but you can’t see because all you are doing is sneezing, so your eyes are all teared and your kinda drowsy because the Sudafed just kicked in and you forgot to take non-drowsy. For the most part it’s a really lovely day.
First and for most, I want to say how excited I am about my Emmy nomination. I was so thankful to have had the story line I had last year. It was one of those twisting story lines that I thought just worked magically. Every time I picked up my script to read for a new show I couldn’t wait to work on it. The one thing I know as an actor is that if you love the work you are doing then so will the audience. I love my character so much I sympathize with her, I grieve with her, I argue with her and I embrace her. She offers so many colors and complication that drive the audience crazy. Some people just hate her and some people just love to hate her and some people actually like her a little. Well, whatever the case I have been blessed to have been given the opportunity and trust from my executive producer to writers to take what they have written and run with it. So cheers to Nicole Walker Roberts Kiriakis Dimera.
Habitat for Humanity (HFH). This is what I have been giving my efforts and time lately. I am working closely with Days of Our Lives not only because it is our 45th Anniversary this year or because this was Francis Reid’s favorite charity but because I really want to help make a positive change in peoples lives all over the world. In order to do this I have to start one family at a time. On Sunday, May 23, 2010 I was the ambassador for the We Build for HFH. The WE Build stands for women empowerment. I had over 30 women just on the Days of Our Lives team alone come out to not just show support but to physically build homes by hammering and lifting and raising frames for the day. If you are wondering what the teams were, you could join our team or create your own. The teams built in different areas of each house and we had skilled Habitat construction men out there to help us do our things correctly.
Having volunteers helping build home lowers the cost of the home and makes it affordable for people to buy with no interest. The homes are adorable. The best part about owning a Habitat house is that you can pay less for a Habitat home per month than you would in rent and you own it. How amazing is that. Now this may vary depending on the city you live in, but in Los Angeles this is definitely the case. Habitat builds six days a week. If there is a Habitat in your area that you would like to start helping with just tell Arianne Zucker from Days of Our Lives sent you because it’s her favorite organization. And if they don’t know who I am ….. they will. Someday, I will get around the nation and hopefully around the world to send my message of hope for affordable living and global community.
If you physically can’t do the work and you want to help you can always donated to www.habitat.org. There will also be a Habitat for Humanity necklace available on the Lowd Suga website www.lowdsuga.com soon that you can purchase and a portion of the proceeds will go to HFH. The best thing that we can do in this world is help each other, be kind and love.
Hugs and Laughs,
Arianne
